Sa-Da-KO and the flasher

Sup bitches, back again for a quickie ;)

As you can see by the photos in the last blog entry... ha ha, "entry" ... there was a couple of rather superb photomographs, taken by Mr Darren Rowley whose company DRP photography can be found right here (Thats a Sa-Da-KO fact!!!)!!!

We found Darren to be an excellent photographer, with a good eye for a shot, and fairly unobtrusive while ya playin, not noticing when he was snappin away, only seein the finished results when back home, promptly makin em profile pics in some cases!!

Kent based Darren has several websites including a facebook, (obvs!) which showcases the different aspects of photography he specialses in, which is varied, corporate, glamor, wildlife, travel, portraits, nudes, model portfolios and everything in between!! his profile reads...

"Since the early 1990‘s Darren has combined photography with a passion for wildlife, conservation and travel. A keen environmentalist and active supporter of many wildlife charities, Darren has spent time as a research volunteer studying Humpback whales and Bottlenose dolphins in Hawaii and in the UK as a volunteer for Drusillas Zoo. Late 2008 Darren turned his camera to the ‘human animal’ and more recently corporate and social events."

Darren is obviously very talented, and, through reading the testimonials on his site, is very well respected by everyone who works with him, and we would urge you to check out his work.

PLEASE NOTE: The image at the top of the page is not the work of DRP, it was captured by an undercover policeman following our drummer Gregzilla as he exposed himself to his "bitches" in a public place, and was subsequently arrested.

Sick Ass Metal meets Sick promotion- The Metal Circus!!

Fuck me, its been too long!! It would seem we have been so busy lately, we have neglected the blogs, and for that I can only offer our apologies, and cut my cock off. So with that, let us begin some hardcore blog-age, like a Hadouken to ya brown star this is the first of a few installments letting you know what the dickens we've been up to recently.

As some of you will know, we have just been on a mini tour of the southern parts of this foul country, with our brothers from other mothers Subservience!! Our first stop took us to Gravesend again, here we were looked after/ abused by the lovely people from Sick Promotions who, definitely know how to throw a party, that there is a fact, A MOTHERFUCKIN SA-DA-KO FACT... ahem... sorry. Anyway, I digress. Sick Promotions are, as the name suggests, a promotions company, but a promo company with a difference. Several sexy differences actually, different as in fire. lots of fire, and dancing... POLE- Dancing, and poi, and burlesque, and a crazy dead guy as master of ceremonys, and burlesque... oh sorry I mentioned that!! But yeah, you get the picture, these guys and girls put on an awesome show, and work fuckin hard to ensure everyone has a good time, and judging by the smiling faces, I don't think many were disappointed!

While we were there, we had the honor of watching a show by Daniella Martin (Who has performed with the Circus of Horrors) ascending the Ladder of Swords, jumping on broken glass, lying on a bed of Nails and "Human Blockhead" which involves 6 inch nails and her face, Ill let your imagination work the rest out- this lovely lady is well ard, trust me!

Reading through their blurb on their website, i noticed that they give what they can back too, offering internships etc, which is awesome of them. Too many promo company's nowadays do very little, relying on the bands to do their job for em, are disorganized, and as long as they get paid, don't really give a shit, Sick promo however are in it for the love of a good show, and do everything in their power to make it happen. Heres what they have to say about themselves...

"We are an Alternative Entertainment Promotions company with a difference.

Sick Promotions has been operating since November 2010 and offers local musicians the opportunity to perform alongside special guest and resident fire performers, circus acts, burlesque performers and pole dancers, whilst offering students and graduates internships and jobs at the same time.

We support unsigned musicians by offering the scene free to enter competitions, promotional contracts, recording studio time, music video production, radio play on MTM Radio and assistance in graphics and web design for free. We raise the money to fund these services through our events and agency performances throughout the United Kingdom.

It is an innovative approach to promoting which we are now looking to take to the next level.

Are YOU sick enough?!"

We certainly were, an we loved every minute of it! If your reading this an in a band, or into firey dancy entertainmenty stuff I suggest you hook the hell up with these dudes, an get involved in one of there sick circuses smash em an e.mail to sickpromo@gmail.com, check out their site http://www.sickpromotions.info and facebook too, tell em Sa-Da-Ko made you do it ;)

So yeah thats about it for this one, thank your mother for the rabbits x

im not gonna cut my cock off for the record!!

Customizing a Drum Kit with Vinyl the Sa-da-kO Way

Shooting starts on Mycho Pictures vision of our latest track "Forced Evolutionary Virus" tomorrow and this week we have been shining up our gear to make sure everything looks all shiny for it.

The only problem is most of our gear is starting to look a little worse for wear and this includes Gregzilla's hybrid pearl export kit which was made up of 2 separate drum kits.

With time on our side and a vision of awesomeness in our mind we set to work stripping the kit of all hard wear, most of the kit had a silver wrap which was something that pearl had already put on there. I say silver but it had actually become a putrid greeny silver from being stored to near a window.

Not metal at all I'm afraid this has got to go.......

If your thinking of trying this type of customizing yourself most of it comes off easy but make sure you store the bits somewhere safe and do it one drum at a time, at one point here we nearly mixed a lot of parts together but with our friend the takeaway box we were able to keep it all separate.
With the drum stripped down naked like Gregs mum we quickly set upon it applying the vinyl wrap, after a double dose of measuring it and stretching it across the full drum we simply stripped the back off and applied, I have heard that people apply glue at this stage but the vinyl is sticky enough and to be honest once the hardware goes back on it'll be hugging the drum nice n tight.

We cut all the excess vinyl off the sides by resting the blade on the outside of the drum and running it round the drum itself.
Hint:if you do this at a 45 degree angle it should sit flush with the edge of the drum......schnick!

With the vinyl on we thought it was worth grabbing some Brasso and shining up all the silvery hardware before it went back on, we then made holes through the vinyl with a screwdriver from the top poking in, this helped stop the vinyl wrinkling when attaching the side bits on.

Bingo......!!

We basically repeated the process on all the drums and then onto the bass drum.....
we treated this a bit different, firstly cos its bigger but mostly because the hoops on the front and back had a a silver wrap trim. Rather than remove this we thought it would be better just to paint it black.

Choice of colour: Satin Black we also painted the entire drum rack in this

Once this dries we popped it back on careful not to scratch the paint now.....
After setting the kit back we admired the handy work but still felt there was something missing....?

We thought the kit looked great but really though that the whole kit would look better with the bottom resonant toms in black, armed with our shoe string budget there was no way we were going to get these so we grabbed the spray can and set to work again

Thanks to the awesome weather we had these dried quick smart so back on they went ....

As a finishing touch I was able to pop an Aku vinyl I had hanging around.
Heres Zilla trying his new kit out, not sure whether he likes it or not though.

So there you have it one refurbished kit!!!!
the blood red finished makes it look like its made from dragon skin and it looks the biz once its all set up for the video it should look shiny and immense in HD.

We'll be reporting on set tomorrow and be taking some behind the scenes shots to tease you all with so I'm sure you get to see the full finished product. until next time I leave you with the DRAGON...........

Mycho Pictures Set to Direct MusicVideo for Sa-da-kO

Established in 2004, Mycho Pictures have been Producing High Quality, Low Budget Horror original horror films and producing some astounding and original works not for the lighthearted. With over 20 Short films, including Award Winning Short Films like EYESPY the team have always strived to bring the audience something Fresh that they can't get elsewhere.

For example have a look at this visually stunning trailer for their latest offering “Slasher House”

With this type of ethos and a portfolio that reads like a company with a real future in the film industry, we couldn’t help but have these guys involved in one of our very own musical offerings.

So we approached head honchos MJ Dixon and Jonny Raw to discuss possible ideas for music video nasty and were instantly impressed not only for their disturbing taste for the gayest coffees I’ve ever seen, but for the stunning concept for the track “forced Evolutionary Virus.”

The team at mycho have already started work on preproduction and we are starting to get an idea on the concept and visual theme for the video and its starting to look the sprinkle a little grim eye glitter we’ve been looking for.

As always we will be sure to leak concept images, production notes and behind the scenes nonsense over the coming months, in the meantime you can catch the mycho chaps work on Scuzz and Kerrang Tv .

Wretched Spawn Terrorizer Review

'Zer01'

ROP Records

Pinpointing an exact genre is as hard as confirming whether Russia belongs to Europe or Asia, mixing Melodeath with groove metal and metalcore, it would seem to be dubbed as 'melodic groovy Deathcore', or as intellectual it would be put as 'hybrid metal'. Hybrid Metallers Sa-da-ko hailing from Liverpool rise from the bottom of the Mersey to emit a sonic blast from Merseyside to the British Metal scene, more than Anfield could muster during this football season, but indeed Sa-da-ko is a consolation to the Scouse football club, a hammer-heavy punch that delivers Cavalera Conspiracy cross Whitechapel cross Bleeding Through style metal, now where's today's sudoko?

Sick Promotions - Not your Average Promo Company

We’ve just got back from performing at Leo’s Red Lion over Gravesend as part of a weekend festival of music, circus performers, fire breathers, poi and pole dancers.

There is always a bit of worry when you’re playing somewhere new as you never know how it’s going to pan out, sometimes the venue could be an underground cave ran by retarded monkeys that insist you to play for 5mins, while other bands use your equipment to put their pints on your cab like an expensive bar, I’m glad to say, however this wasn’t the case.

Noisy \m/

All the bands were very high calibre and there were a lot of them, with over 48 bands booked for the weekend ranging from a very smartly dressed chap playing acoustic versions of cowboys from hell, transformers and other metal classics through to brutal bands such as Ten Cent Toy, Shreddertron, and Subservience.

The music was spread across 2 stages, one inside and one outside, it was almost as if one of the insane circus freaks had used some of their psychic powers to forecast the shit hot weather on the day. The perfect setting to enjoy a sick pint (a green coloured pint of something that I was too frightened to even go near)

Shorty got Skills

The “sick girls” were also in attendance providing Poi and fire breathing during band performances and an opportunity for dirty perverts like ourselves to ogle at scantily clad women while drooling into our pints.

Apparently, the girls also provided pole dancing later in the evening and a whole lot of other performances that we had to miss, although I’m sure we’ll get to catch them again at some stage.

We were all really impressed with the professionalism of Sick Promotions during the whole event, all the bands were made to feel welcome on arrival by all their staff and the efficiency and calibre of the sound guys really added to give the event something special.

It’s not very often I give props to promotion companies because 70% tend to be utter shite, if youre in an unsigned band looking for gigs or a venue looking to spice up one of your nights with something special give the guys at Sick Promotions a call.....thanks again guys \m/

Metal as Fuck feature: Sa-da-ko

We've recently been featured in the fandabulous webzine metalasfuck, this has been part of our appearance at this years Hammerfest.

Theres quite a lot of interviews that'll be popping up over the next few weeks so as soon as they surface we'll pop them up for you to see.

We got a number and politely informed them that we would be playing" - The Rise of Sa-da-Ko. original article published by http://www.metalasfuck.net/ Written by Mike Dee.

From local pubs to one of the UK's leading metal festivals, the lads from
Southport tell Metal as Fuck the story behind the gore.

Sa-da-Ko have spent some time bringing their blend of Japanese gore and 21st Century metal to their native North West England. With extensive legwork and a self-produced EP already under it's belt, the Sa-da-Ko monster had it's sights set on bigger and better things..namely Hammerfest 2011.
"We basically got a number to phone and politely informed them that we would be playing", says vocalist Jim.

Having charmed their way onto the bigest stage of their career, the Sa-da-Ko
conglomerate had to deliver something special on the day. After all, us metal
fans are a difficult breed to please. Jim continues;
"There were quite a few people waiting for us to go on but by the time we had finished we had gathered quite a crowd. Sometimes its hard to tell how a crowd is going to go but these guys loved every minuite of it. It was fucking awesome; not just playing but just being there was exciting" Guitarist Steve "Simo" Simpson
agrees; "Weve never really had the chance to go before and it was a real
honor to have played somewhere like this. It's great when you get this sort of
feedback because it pushes you to play better and get into it more. It seemed
like we had converted a few more to the Sa-da-Ko brood on the day."

It all began back in the North Western coastal town of Southport for Sa-da-Ko, when Jim leant his voice to some tracks that Simo had been working on. Soon joined by
drummer Gregzilla, lead guitarist JaY and bassist RoB, Sa-da-Ko felt they were
in a position to unleash their brand of hybrid metal upon the world.
"We gradually became aware that we were being selfish confining the terror to the
home studio and took that show on the road!"
says Jim.

With the lineup complete and extensive local gigging under their belt, the Japanese
horror-inspired EP Zero1 was released under their own steam in 2010. Sa-da-Ko is
actually the name of the gnarly dead woman who emerges from the TV set in cult
Japanese classic film The Ring, and song titles such as Ju-On and Li
continue the Oriental theme. As none of the band have a shred of Japanese in
them, what is it about this part of the world that inspires the band?
"Fit Japanese girls with Samurai swords!" says Jim. Simo embellishes.
"I like the fact that its so different to the west; the myths, legends, culture and music
has been something that I have found really inspiring, plus I'm a geek at heart
I love the horror films, manga, art and everything else about the east."

Whilst some bands have successfully carried a motif throughout their
musical career, are Sa-da-Ko concerned that the music buying public will think
the Japanese themes are a bit of a gimmick, and consequently not take the
quintet seriously as a metal band?

"I can see how people would view it like that but its something we found that sat with the band and the inital project we started quite well," says Simo. "We truly beleive that there is substance and something originial in what we do and that gimmicks aside, it's the music that will be the longevity of the band."

A fascination with the Orient is very much an underlying theme in Sa-da-Ko's music. What is also obvious is how much metal in recent years has inspired this band, with shades of Lamb of God, Fear Factory and to a degree, Atreyu all coming through on Zero1.

This is no real suprise as the boys tell Metal as Fuck that the tour bus stereo
blasts everything from Frank Sinatra to hip hop to Gojira to black metal to
unsigned British band Subservience, with whom Sa-da-Ko recently recorded a split
EP.

It's not all fun and games on the bus though; being an unsigned band is
anything but easy: "The biggest thing is you're pretty much on your own,"
says Jim, "you have to be like a large company that is desperately understaffed,
so you have to learn how to market, book gigs, be your own art dept, be a
mechanic; its hard but its good."

And the hard work is paying off. Hammerfest
aside, Sa-da-Ko's thoroughly brutal cover of Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince's
Boom Shake The Room found it's way to an editorial mention in market-leading
publication Metal Hammer, as well as receiving a play on the Metal Hammer
podcast and getting plastered all over the Metal Hammer website, Facebook page,
and everywhere else they could feasibly share it.

"It was a big song as we were growing up and its one of those songs everyone knows across the board, so we thought we would dirt on it!" says Simo, "plus Jim knew all the words."

With the Subservience split EP wrapped up (available for download via
iTunes et al), 2011 and beyond are looking busy for the Sa-da-Ko boys. Despite
having their detractors, their unrivalled work ethic means they're starting to
gain some major traction across the UK. A second album is planned for the end of
2011 and extensive tour dates are in the calendar. There are some major
pressures facing the band and with all this hard work in front of them, what's
the Sa-da-Ko dream?

"For Jim it's probably nailing hot Japanese chicks with Samurai swords," laughs Simo, "and we'd all be okay with that. But really the dream is for the band to carry on to a point where we shit on our bosses desks and do what we love full time."

Sa-da-ko Vs Subservience is the 2nd release from Southport based metal band Sa-da-ko, after a barrage of local and national gigs last year the band decided it was time to offer fans of the music something more.

Both bands met when Sa da kO played 2 headlining shows (London, Hastings) with London based Hardcore nuts Subservience the and the two bands hit it off with a mutual love of meat, hot sauce alcohol and of course the metal genre, this lead to gigs spanning the north and south divide and both bands seem to complement each other’s unique style and content.

During a post gig, beer fueled conversation an idea was born to engage in combat with a dance off on Play station konnect backstage and the concept of Sa-da-ko vs Subservience was born.

The CD itself embodies everything both bands stand for and represents a rebellion, the 2 monsters are loose and each has devastating combos, the winner is chosen by you.
