Sa-da-ko- Jims Tour Diary 15th Oct-17th Oct

So, another weekend full of gigs down, an I'm nursing a case of moshers neck, an the slight remnants of a hangover!!

The 16th saw us in Burnley, a first for us, at the Sanctuary rock bar, which is an awesome venue by the way, to kick off the rock on promotions, Fire within cd launch tour.

First up was a band called Massive wagons , a Hard rock outfit from Carnforth, whos interests include "Beer. Girls in black. Loud noises."... which amused me!!
Ive not seen this band before, an Im gutted!! They were awesome, sexy solos, gut punching bass, tight ass beats an a vocalist whose voice has been lovingly nurtured on gravel and whiskey, very enjoyable!
Massive Wagons played a mix of their own stuff with a few covers thrown in, ending with a version of Johnny B Good, which they truly made their own... Looking forward to seein these lads again soon!!

Next up were our old friends Stormcorporation from Preston! As usual they were right on form, with a set slappin you in the face with originality and skill. Some nice dirty beats, with huge groovin guitars, nicely contrasted with soaring female vocals, this band demand attention, an they get it!
If you havent seen these live yet, I would urge you too, as they never fail to please, their debut album is out now, and free to download from here... DO IT!

So after a late finish, an a long drive home, discussing the finer foods in life, an coming to the conclusion that caramel shortbreads are awesome, and rice pudding is nice cold, we were set up for the trip to Warrington for Sa-da-ko to play White fest, which, you'll be pleased to know, has no connection to any sort of racist organisation!!!

This was a bit of a strange gig, an we felt a bit sorry for the promoter, as his original venue had pulled out, as had a lot of the acts he had lined up, but this didn't stop us pissin molten metal into the ears of Warrington's populace! We unfortunately, had to rush this one a bit, so didn't see many of the other bands, however, one of the lads from screamo outfit, age of insecurity introduced himself an I have just been checkin em out on Myspace, I suggest you do the same!!

Any way, time to go an organize some Sa-da-ko filled Halloween shenanigans, so Ill leave you with a picture of what I had for lunch... beef double dipped mother lickers!!!!

Quick update for you bitches!!!

Just givin ya a quick update on whats bein goin on for Sa-Da-Ko recently!

We are enjoyin our bad ass, face bustin, lip splittin "I see them tour" ...of the north west. We are just about half way through now with the next dates being the 16th in Burnley @ The Sanctuary Rock Bar, in association with Rock on Promo which is their CD launch night, an then followed straight up the next day on the 17th @ The White Hart in Warrington.

Meanwhile we have been working our asses off creating the event of the year which will be the eagerly anticipated zombie apocalypse 2 held this year in our home town of Southport at the Fox and Goose. Last years event was a resounding success, with the evening being a complete sell out at full capacity!

Not wanting to reveal too much at this point in time... rest assured this years apocalypse will be more blood curdling and vomit inducing than this years sick-ass release The Human Centipede and with more Zombies than Dead Rising 2.

go eat a steak... inabitch x

Preston Get in the ring: Battle of the Bands

As part of our battle of the bands gig in Preston we recently did an interview for angel of metal. The Rock on Preston Battle of the bands competition has been able to draw some big attention from the likes of Metal Hammer.

Any way I thought I would put up the Sa-da-ko interview here so you read it and find out more about the band.

Please introduce your band, the current line-up and what each
of you do.

The name of the band is Sa-da-ko and band members
are:
Jim - Vocals and awesomeness, Simo - Guitar & vocals, Jay – guitar,
Rob – cougar, Greg - Drums

How would you describe the band’s sound?
Sick ass metal!

How do you approach your song writing and what
is your lyrical theme/content?

Our sound is forged from a mixture of
styles and influences. When we write we try to keep a lot of elements from world
cinema and in particular eastern horror in our lyrics.
We are lucky enough
to be able to have access to Aku Studios in Southport so we can concentrate on
building a layered sound, although a lot of our writing is done all together to
keep the dynamic of the live show.

Who gets involved with writing of lyrics and melody? Is it down to specific individuals or a collaborative process?
We all write together as a unit, in order to accommodate all of
our styles and influences.

How often do you practice and have you any shows lined up?
We practice at least once a week, twice where possible
and have quite a workload gig wise at the moment....

What has been your best gig so far, and why is it so memorable?
We organised a Halloween
gig in our home town of Southport, with a fancy dress theme of zombies and
survivors. The turnout was amazing, our first sell-out show, and managed to
shift a load of demos and merchandise! Both the crowd and the sound were brutal,
and a good night was had by all involved!

What was the last song you listened to, either on the radio, your mp3 player, at a gig...?
The theme tune to Saved By The Bell...

Is there anything about the metal scene today that you would like to change?
Apart from attitudes of
people stuck in their ways, all we would like to see is an increase in
popularity of the genre, and more nights like this one being held with a good
promotional team behind it.

What do you think of the Preston/North West metal scene right now?
There's a lot of talent out there in
the North West. It's been a while since we played Preston, so we are looking
forward to experiencing some of the finest calibre of metal, as well as
experiencing the fine beverages of the town!

What do you consider are the benefits of initiatives like Rock On Preston and Get In The Ring?
Exposure being the main reason for us personally. It's a good
chance to expand the influence of the band, and recruit more metalheads into our
family.

What’s next for the band?
We have our first record out
in early March, produced in AKU studios, and this is due to coincide with the
release of our first ever video, for the song "RED". As you can tell it's a time
of firsts, another new experience is the chance to be doing a tour in Germany
and we are excited by the prospect of gaining more momentum as a band, and
further bettering ourselves musically!

For those wishing to check out more, what is your myspace link?
Just google "sickass metal" and you
will find us or you can type www.myspace.com/sadako01 and we are there!

Were through to next round!!

just waiting to see who we play with during the Semi-finals, wish us luck

Liverpool Thrash, Beers & Sa-da-ko Induced Vomiting

Just got back from playing last nights show in St Helens with Thrash Monsters Despoiler & Bludvera. a good night had by all me thinks and a few beers which of course helps the metal go down.

Despolier are a new band for us, we havent met these guys before and we liked them. they seemed like a good group of lads. They describe themselves as "scum metal" which I thought was a bit wierd until I saw these guys live and that tag seems to sit pretty well here.
Tonight the lads were with a recent recruited guitarist who ripped the tracks to bits with awsome licks and solid grooves. Highlights of the set for me have to be a shouting chorus of "I Hate yur disability!!" and " I AM A Criminal!!"
Next up Bludvera, weve played with these guys before and it nice to see the chaps returning in good form with a new track to add to the show. Bludvera are good and they remind me of a time when thrash was pure and these lads dont just play it, they live it, you can here the influences come through a lot, at times im reminded of an early Metalica (back when they ruled) with bits of Forbidden and Testament thrown in for good measure
Bludvera will be joining us at Aku Studios to record their forth coming EP. -keep your eyes peeled for this coming soon!!!
Next week we face Rock on Preston's Battle of the bands, weve beaten a lot of bands to be placed in the final 16. Can we make it thru?
